Gadsden had worthy opponents, but defeated all in the playoffs by more than 100 points. They defeated Byram Hills (NY) 465-355, New Orleans Jesuit 425-325, and Ankeny (IA) in the finals, 355-210.
Ankeny did lead Gadsden at halftime, 140-105, but Gadsden took charge in the 70 Seconds Round, getting 9 out of 10 right in ANIMALS IN THE BIBLE, and they rebounded nicely, scoring on four questions that Ankeny missed in the NATIONS category. Gadsden led 235-190 going into the final period, and they widened their lead by sweeping the ARCHITECTURE couplet:
